Remove out-of-bounds paths (removeOffCanvasPaths)
Removes paths entirely outside the viewBox clipping region.
What Remove out-of-bounds paths does in SVGO
SVGO applies removeOffCanvasPaths as part of its plugin pipeline. In SVGOMG the toggle is labeled Remove out-of-bounds paths (off by default). Optimization runs entirely in your browser — files are not uploaded to a server.
Use the SVGOMG optimizer with Show original to compare before and after. If output looks wrong, disable this plugin first, then re-enable related transforms one at a time.
When to enable
Exports with stray geometry far outside the artboard.
When to disable
Animations or filters that temporarily move paths outside viewBox.
Watch out for
Off by default; verify nothing important is clipped away.
Try it in SVGOMG
- Open svgomg.net and load your SVG (file, paste, or demo).
- Find Remove out-of-bounds paths in the Features panel (
removeOffCanvasPaths). - Toggle the plugin and compare the preview; download when satisfied.
